Learn to Chalk!
Art Workshops
June 8 and 9, 2007
Nationally-known chalking artist Lee Jones from Orlando, Florida will be the
featured artist. Lee will conduct free workshops at Chattanooga State in the
Auditorium located in the Humanities Building and later outside on the sidewalk
on chalking techniques.
Professional artists, aspiring artists, and those who simply enjoy creating art are strongly encouraged to attend one of Lee’s scheduled workshops. The presentation will include a history of street painting and instructions on chalking. Details will be sent out to all participating artists. Choose a workshop on Friday, June 8, from 7-8:30pm, or on Saturday, June 9, from 9-10:30am.
Directions: From Amnicola Highway, turn into Chattanooga State. Stay in the left hand lane and make a semi-circle around the retention lake. After passing the bus pick-up station, take your next right and park in the lot to your left (this is directly behind the Humanities Building). Sidewalks on both sides of the building will take you to the front entrance. If you take the right entrance you will walk past a section of the Outdoor Museum of Art sculpture garden.
June 13, 14, and 15, 2007
Local artists Frances McDonald and Charlie Newton will facilitate a free art camp that will run June 13, 14 and 15. Special efforts will be made to engage participants with special needs. Time, location and other details will be announced later.
